LAST VIDEOCONFERENCE

On April 1st we had our last videoconference.

The idea of several simultaneous online meetings with mixed groups was a new experience for our students.
It sounded great the first time I told them. However, we had some technological difficulties that made it quite demanding for them.

Anyway, most of them enjoyed and had real fun while speaking with their mates  abroad.

Once again, thanks so much to our colleagues in Latvia for such an enriching adventure!!

Here we are!!

We would have liked another videocall before the end of May but our Latvian friends have already finished their academic year ๐Ÿ˜ข

THIS IS MY SCHOOL: CARNIVAL TIME

Hi everybody!

Talking about cultural diversity, we can't miss the opportunity to write about our Carnival time celebrations

Two weeks ago it was time to celebrate Carnival. Galician Carnival has its own traditions and disguises, with deep roots in our popular culture. All around our town there are many different places where Carnival is celebrated with particular characters and performances.

Laza

Sande

Xinzo

It is a traditional Carnival kept by people for centuries which coexists with the disguising carnival party, especially celebrated by the young people.

Carnival disguises show colour, fun and imagination, having each year some trendy topics.

We haven’t missed a chance to celebrate Carnival at school, first we got lot of fun all over the week, by wearing each day, from Monday to Thursday, a different disguise garment: a headdress, a pair of glasses, some colour socks and an apron.

Fortunately, after a 2021 without Carnival due to pandemic, this year we performed Carnival again along the town's streets. Students and teachers all together went to a parade on Friday 25th sharing different characters and disguises determined by the school level.

Finally, we still had free days, till Wednesday 2nd March, to enjoy Carnival with friends.

THIS IS MY SCHOOL: SCHOOL DAY FOR PEACE

On last 30th January we commemorated the School Day of Non-violence and Peace.

We took part for peace with different activities like drawing portraits of the main non -violence icons of the  world´s recent history such as:

  • Mahatma Gandhi

  • Martin Luther King

  • Malala Yousafzai

We are convinced that a sustainable development can't be

achieved without a culture of peace.

Even on these days, with states where there is no way to peace ๐Ÿ˜ข

PEACE IS THE ONLY WAY

A CULTURAL CHALLENGE

Hi everyone,

For this month, we are dealing with our cultural roots. Thus, we suggest our counterparts a research about the most outstanding modern female writer in the Galician language:

ROSALรA DE CASTRO

And these are the questions we have selected for them to answer:

-Who was this woman?

- What literary movement did she belong to? Can we find something similar in

your literary tradition of that period?

- Why was she so important for Galician language and culture?

- When do we commemorate her?

Besides, we would like them to take on a

challenge๐Ÿ˜‰

Unscramble these verses the author wrote.

Once they get it...what about reading them aloud

 and record it?

VIDEOCONFERENCE ABOUT "DIVERSITY IN OUR PARTNERCOUNTRIES"

Today (11/02/2022) we have had our third videoconference to exchange and put in common opinions about the concept of diversity both in Latvia and in Spain.

Although we had some technical problems ๐Ÿ˜…, we were finally able to interchange our conclusions on the topic after several days "investigating" ๐Ÿ“š๐Ÿ“๐Ÿ’ป about it.

Students were not very talkative this time but their opinions and answers were always accurate.

Good job!! ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ”

Here some pics.

LOGO CONTEST

After our Christmas break, students were working on a logo for our project.

Several options, both from Daugavpils and Padrenda were presented. One of the students from Daugavpils created a kind of vote system on google docs and students had the possibility to vote for what they considered the best project logo.

These were the candidates:

And the winner was...

It clearly reflects what the project is: roots and the cooperation between both countries.

Congratulations to everyone who has participated and particularly to the author of this logo. ๐Ÿ‘๐Ÿ†
